Nearly a week into 2008, and I am long overdue for a post. What better way than to recap my favorites of 2007:
Favorite blog on my blogroll: 800lb Gorilla
Favorite color: Powder blue from the San Diego Charger jerseys
Favorite day: Day before my birthday (My brother and I ran the LA Triathlon Sprint)
Favorite city: Many to choose from, but gotta love Chicago (even during February)
Favorite SkyMall gadget: Gotta love the Gravity Defyer Shoes
Favorite conspiracy theory: Tom Cruise was cloned by Xenu and the clone is the crazy one we’ve seen in recent years
Favorite moment at work: There are so many to choose from. While the Montel Williams show was interesting and The Talking Show was a first, neither of them is the top choice. Not quite the top either, the GBK Oscars Gift Suite was certainly enjoyable, as was the Scriptwriter’s Showcase. I even learned about how bad the strike would be months before it happened. Even though having Reggie Bush on the cover of the magazine was nice, that too was not my favorite moment. My favorite moment at work definitely has to be when I realized I had a great advertisement.
Favorite dance event: 2007 US Open. The Moorpark College Swing Dance Team received second place in their very first team competition at the US Open. I was one of the founding members of the college club at Moorpark, so it was particularly enjoyable to see them do so well in their first competition.
Favorite radio moment: When I was doing the Gadget Panel Radio show while on the road, heading to a Dodgers game. My phone cut out and Gadget Panelist Vadim was unable to get himself on the phone circuit. Great radio!
Favorite blog I didn’t write: The blog recapping my trip to New Zealand with the 20GB of pictures and photos I took while down under.
Favorite Movie: Ratatouille. The little ones teach us so much in life.
It certainly wasn’t my strongest race ever. In fact, the 0.4 mile swim nearly killed me. But the Los Angeles Triathlon was a tremendous accomplishment this weekend. Thanks to Accenture, I’m able to watch a video of my pasty ass cross the finish line. That’s the way to finish the race. Be sure to checkout my lil bro who finishes very strong just 10 seconds after me!
I figured I might as well share some of those special moments from the race…
Applying the Bullfrog eXtreme Sport (left)
Someone thought it would be a good idea to put us in white caps… At a certain point, we figured out that we’re wearing condoms on our heads (right)
#2403 getting ready for action (left)
I’m somewhere in that mess of ocean, beach, and whiteheaded swimmers (right).
The swim was definitely the toughest part of the entire race for me. Even though I have a bad IT band that makes running a painful experience, swimming is my weakest area. It’s kinda like the ol’ shirt says, “I’d be a much better triathlete is swimming was as easy as your girlfriend.” I swear, I almost died out there in the water.
I couldn’t find my rhythm the whole while I was out there. The few times that I did… I’d end up getting kicked by someone. I really did enjoy the whole thing though!
The bike was my favorite part (left). I love the bike! Of course, I need to figure out how to reduce my transition times. Maybe it was because I was so confused about how to use my bike (right).
In the end, I got to show off my Sven triathlete suit and my lil brother and I both received finisher medals (left). BTW, the Bullfrog eXtreme Sport that I put on earlier in the day really worked! I’m really as pasty white as it shows in the pictures. I didn’t end up with a sunburn anywhere on me. Not even my nose (which is normally looking rudolph-ish this time of year).
After the long race and time under the sun. I got to kick back with my BFF (right), my brother and his woman. Good times for the people of Los Angeles!!!
Suddenly! I’m woken by my crazed dog!!! He’s right in my face, turning about, licking my arm and my face. Obviously, he needs to take a dump or pee on something outside. I get up from the coach… yes, it’s Sunday afternoon, so I’m sleeping on the coach after my 1 hour bike ride this afternoon.
I ask him, “You wanna go outside?”
He’s completely excited and goes running down the hall. At this point, I’m thinking that my dog is a little on the retarded side. After all, he should know after 5 years in the same house that when he goes outside, he goes through the kitchen. Nonetheless, I follow him down the hall.
He’s standing in the middle of the hall, so I figure he’s waiting for me to follow him. I start walking down the hall, but he doesn’t move. I tell him to move. He still won’t move. He’s just sitting there staring at the toilet.
Now, here is the part where you can either think that I am a genius for figuring this out or my dog is a genius for communicating to me that he’s thirsty. See, he never gets to drink from the toilet. If by some odd circumstance the lid is left off the toilet he won’t drink from it. He gets in trouble. Yet, somehow Granite the Einstein DOG figure out that if he points to a tub of water that he’s not allowed to drink out of, I’ll know that he’s friggin thirsty.
So I take him and Latte outside and give them fresh water.
GULP! GULP! GULP!
So, why does Time Warner Cable suck? Because I had no Internet access since 1 o’clock on Sunday morning until now.
