Ima is a Quadruple Contraction
I have received at least five or six emails, texts, or spoken messages from people in as many days whereby the other person misused the term “ima”. The most common misuse has been “ima gonna”. This is redundant, since ima replaces “I am going to”. Of course, gonna is slang for “going to”, so ima gonna is like saying “I am going to going to”… FAIL
Now, someone is going to claim that it is “I’m a” and not “ima”… Just because the BEP called it “I’m a be” doesn’t mean ima follow that. It’s ima.
