More Important Reasons to NOT Update to Magento 1.3.1
I can’t express my disappointment enough for the latest Magento release. The most important features of an ecommerce platform (there were working just fine in previous version) have been broken with the latest update. The two latest problems I have found are related to receiving payments through PayPal Express and address verification on credit cards.
The PayPal Express issue has already cost my company orders that submit through the website but don’t charge the customer’s PayPal account. Of course, unlike a credit card PayPal is not a payment method you can call the customer about and get the information again to process manually.
The address verifications for the merchant account have doubled since upgrading to Magento 1.3.1.This is definitely not an issue with the merchant account as the same information can be entered manually into the merchant account and everything works just fine.
Other minor problems are links that return 404 in the admin interface. These are minor compared to the inability to actually collect money from customers. That’s the whole point of ecommerce, Magento. You guys really fucked up with the latest release. I wish there was some way for me to downgrade to my last version. This has been a horrible experience. This is a giant leap backwards for ecommerce!
