After having slept through most of the 2 hour premiere of the new Knight Rider on NBC last night, I was about to say it would have one season of life. That was until I paid closer attention to the sponsors: Ford and Microsoft.
The new K.I.T is a Mustang. Depending upon what happens to sales of the mustang over the next television season, we can expect Knight Rider to be back because Ford will be willing to pay for the show.
Microsoft has considerable interest in NBC (MSNBC). Depending upon how well Ford vehicles with Microsoft’s Sync system sell, you can bet that Microsoft will be willing to help pay to keep the show on their television partner, NBC.
In much more simple terms: Knight Rider is an infomercial for Ford and Microsoft. I’ve tried this before on a much lower budget when I produced a television talk show starring Christine Eads. It is a brilliant idea if sales pan out for Ford and Microsoft.
Is Microsoft on the verge of creating the modern equivalent to Soap Operas? Will we call them Sync Operas? Stay tuned to NBC and Knight Rider to find out!

I MUST AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE NEW NIGHT RIDER PILOT. YOU MUST BE A LOYAL RIDER FAN TO WATCH THE PILOT. IT WAS A FORD COMMERICAL ALL THE WAY. IT DIDN’T SHOCK ME WHEN MIKE TRANCER MOTHER WAS KILLED OFF. MAYBE THE SERIES WILL BE BETTER. I KNOW THAT I AM ASKING TOO MUCH. GOOD LUCK TO THE SERIES AND I WILL STARTED SAVING TO BUY THE ORIGINAL NIGHT RIDER SERIESDVD. GOOD LUCK LUCK TOD THE FUTURE.

Before you blast it to hell, keep in mind it was written in a panic in 12 days before the writer’s strike. Seeing that and that they weren’t allowed to alter a word during filming, AND on top of that they had to replace Kitt’s voice 6 days before air, it was amazing the pilot came off so smooth.
It was far superior to Knight Rider 2000. The show can go in any direction, it just depends who they hire as the show runner. The spirit of the old show is there, now they just need to hire writers.

You guys suck big time! I happen to be a teenager during the bionic and knight rider years and I’m glad to see those shows making a come back. I hope they go further than 1 season. One more thing can some of you make up your own quotes instead of bytin off other peoples’ opinion?

Stacey: knight rider back in the day was a great show. Remember the days of Goliath? And when Michael Knight’s evil twin brother was played by a goatee wearing Hoff? So much more entertaining than this latest incarnation of Ford’s infomercial.
Believe me, this will be on air longer than 1 season. Ford is going to make such a killing on the sales of the new Mustang and MS will sell cars with the Sync system like crazy that they will pay to keep the show on air no matter how terrible it may be. I’m just not going to fall for Justin Bruening wearing a goatee for an evil twin brother this time!

I’m sure this was definitely worth a watch.. I don’t know if could possibly live up to the original show we all grew up loving.
